Biography
My name is Marty Grant (actually Marvin Grant, Jr.). I was born in Marion County, South Carolina where my mother was from. We left there when I was just a few months old. We moved to Grundy, VA for a month or so, then to Marietta, GA for a few months. Our next move was to Durham, NC where we lived about 5 years. I attended Bethesda Elementary in Durham for the first grade. After that school year we moved to Hillsborough, NC which is my "hometown" as I grew up there. I graduated from Orange High School in 1983.
I served in the USAF (1984-1988) spending most of my service at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. It was there that I met Karla Mangus who was also in the service, and worked just down the hall.
Karla was born in Seattle, Washington but moved to Brimfield, IL while still young and was raised there. She graduated from Brimfield High School in 1981.
We married at her home church in 1987 and went back to North Dakota for a year (I was still in the USAF then). After I got out we moved to my hometown of Hillsborough, NC for a few months, then came here to Kinston, NC so that Karla could finish Court Reporting School. We've been here ever since.
I'm a Computer Programmer / Software Developer and Karla is an Official Court Reporter for the State of North Carolina. She also sells Arbonne health and beauty products.
We have two cats, Jabber and Rebel.
