North Carolina My interest in Crawfords in North Carolina is strictly in counties bordering or near Marion County, SC. This is the southeastern portion of NC. My interest in Crawfords in this region is ca 1860 and earlier only.

South Carolina My Crawfords were from Marion County so that is my focus area, but I'm also interested in other Crawfords who were in neighboring or nearby counties.

Darlington County [formed 1785 from Cheraws]

  • None listed here on 1790 through 1830 census
  • Chapman J. Crawford (c1817) and --- Jolly and Mary M. Cormick of SC (Marion, Darlington)
  • Mary Crawford (or Cranford?) (c1823 NC) listed here in 1850 with several children, all born SC: Ellen 12, Alx 10, Saml 8, James 7. They are all in the household of E. P. Plummer, (male) 23 born NC, no one else there.
  • Samuel Crawford (c1838 SC) here in 1850 in Plummer household. Probably a son of Mary Crawford above.
