Note: I have some unsourced names and dates on this page. Use at your
own risk until I can find actual source documentation for them. They are
clearly noted as being unproven. Theophilus Floyd was born
12 Mar 1787 per his tombstone (full source: National Cemetery
Administration. U.S. Veterans Gravesites, ca.1775-2006 [database
on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: The Generations Network, Inc., 2006. Original
data: National Cemetery Administration. Nationwide Gravesite Locator).
He is a proven son of
Francis Floyd and Isabel Johnston as named in a deed dated 22 Oct
1804 naming their heirs.
He appears to be home with his parents for the 1790 census, aged
under 16 (1774/1790). He still seems to be home with them in 1800, aged
10-15 (1784/90).
Theophilus was named in an estate division for Francis Floyd dated 20
Mar 1806. The heirs were named as Izabel the widow and seven children:
Jane, Hugh, Theophilus, Johnston, Cathrine, Izabel and Francis. (Horry
Co., SC Deed Book A1, page 67 Online at:
Horry County Historical Society).
Theophilus Floyd married Delilah Page between ca 1800 and ca
1805 in Horry or perhaps in neighboring Marion District. Delilah was
born 2 Dec 1790 (source?), a daughter of Joseph Page and his wife, a
Miss Horn. Delilah was named in Joseph's 1818 Will as his daughter
Delilah Floyd. Her husband's name was not given. (Marion Co., SC Probate
Roll # 630).

Theophilus moved his family to Pike Co., AL in the 1820's and was
listed there on the 1830 census. There were other Floyds there that year
as well, but their relationship to Theophilus is unknown. They were
Evans Floyd, Hugh Floyd (this isn't his brother of that name) and
William Floyd.

Barbour County was formed in 1832 from the eastern half of Pike
taking Theophilus and family into the new county.
Delilah Page Floyd died on 7 Nov 1835 (source?) in Barbour Co., AL.
I didn't find Theophilus Floyd on the 1840 census but there is a Thos
Floyd listed in Barbour that is most likely Theophilus. It fits
pretty well.
