Thomas Floyd was born before 1774, probably well before. This is
based on his 1790 census entry that shows him age 16 and up. His parents
are unknown, nor is it known how he relates to the other Floyds of Horry
and Marion County.
This might be the same Thomas Floyd who is listed on the 1769
tax list in Dobbs Co., NC with one tithable (himself). (1769
Tax List - Dobbs Co., NC). John Floyd, Samuel Floyd and son James
Floyd were also listed.
Sometime between ca 1769 and 1771 Thomas Floyd made a deed to John
Garland in Dobbs Co., NC. This is the same Thomas from the 1769 tax
list, but I don't know for sure that it is the same Thomas who later
lived in SC. (Dobbs Co., NC Deed Book 8, page 162 online at
NC Grantor/Grantee Index of Johnston, Dobbs and Lenoir Counties).
He was listed on the
1790 census in Georgetown District, South Carolina.

He wasn't listed on the
1800 census in either Georgetown District or in Marion District. I
found no other records for Thomas Floyd in the area. I don't know if he
lived in the section of Georgetown that later became Horry, Marion,
Williamsburg or remained Georgetown. No way to tell from just this one
record.
There are two men named Thomas Floyd listed on the 1800 census in
nearby Sumter District. One is Thomas Floyd Jr (1774/84), and the other
is Thomas Sr (bef 1755). His household is a reasonable match, though not
perfect, with Thomas of 1790. I can't be certain at all that they are
one and the same person. Here is the entry just in case they are one and
