Welcome to my Fouts web pages! I am interested in most of the Fouts families in America to some extent, but my primary interest is in my own line in North Carolina. They came out of PA and MD before coming to NC:

Theobald ("Dewald" or "David") Fouts (c1722-c1785) and Catherine Spengel of PA, MD, NC.

- John Leonard Fouts (c1755-c1799) and Catherine Shearer of NC

-- Jacob Fouts (c1786-1852) and Mary Margaret Baker of Ashe and Macon Co., NC

---- Rebecca Fouts (1822-190?) and Michael J. Waters of Macon Co., NC

I am also interested in other Fouts in America whether related to me or not (1700s through ca 1860), though to date, I have done very little research outside of my own line. There is currently no Fouts DNA Study. Is anyone interested in starting one?

Note: This surname can be spelled several ways, some of the most common are: Fouts, Fauts, Foutz, Pfautz, Pfoutz, Pfouts. As far as I've been able to determine there is no connection between this surname and the Foust and Foute surnames, even though they are similar in spelling.
