Maps Showing Where the Grant Family LivedGoochland Co, VA and Louisa Co, VA areaMap showing Lickinghole Creek in Goochland Co, VA near the Louisa border, where Alexander Grant received a land grant in 1747. The number "1" on the map (in two locations) show the course of Lickinghole Creek as it flows southward into the James River. His land was on Elk Licking branch of the creek which I haven't yet identified. Alexander could be the brother of our William Grant Sr, but that isn't proven yet.
Rutherford Co, NC, Buncombe Co, NC, McDowell Co, NC, Henderson Co, NCMulti-County area in western NC where the Grants resided up through ca 1850. Including Rutherford, McDowell, Polk, Henderson and Buncombe County. See key below the map for what the numbers mean. 1 = Cove Creek, runs from McDowell Co, NC south through Rutherford into the Broad River. William Grant Sr, Alexander Grant and his son William Grant all owned land on this creek. 2 = Mountain Creek. Runs from northern Rutherford County south into the Broad River. William Grant Sr owned land on this creek. 3 = Crooked Creek. Runs from southern McDowell County along Buncombe border and runs north east. James Grant (son of Thomas Sr) owned land on this creek. 4 = Flat Creek. Forms just east of Fairview in Buncombe County and flows east into Broad River. Thomas Grant Sr owned land on this creek. 5 = Grant Mountain. In northern Henderson County, roughly between communities of Gerton, Bat Cave and Edneyville. This is probably named after William C. Grant, (son of Susan Grant, daughter of Clementine Grant) who lived in this area after 1850.
