Miller Hensley (c1819) and Dicie Davidson of TN and Morgan and Marshall Co, AL and Phillips Co, AR[Commentary] [Children] [Researcher List] [Register Report] [A Note about sources] [How to contact me] [Home] I (Marty Grant) am not related to Miller Hensley as far as I know. Miller Hensley (or possibly William Miller Hensley) was born ca 1818/19 (per 1850 census) in Tennessee (per 1850 census). I don't know what County he might have been born in. If his parents are who I suspect, then he was likely born in Knox County, Tennessee, but that is yet to be proven. I'm not sure if his name is just "Miller" Hensley, or if it is "William Miller" Hensley. Information shared with me by another researcher showed him as "William", but my meager records show him as "Miller", so I've assumed both names are correct, pending confirmation, or evidence against it. Miller Hensley could be a son of Ichabod Hensley (c1780/83) and Catherine Livingston, but I have no solid proof to back this up, just circumstantial evidence. Primarily two facts: One: Miller was born in TN (as was most of Ichabod's children), and two: Miller married in Morgan County, Alabama, where Ichabod resided. However, that is the extent of the evidence I have connecting them. Keep in mind that it is entirely possible that Miller was not Ichabod's son, but a son of someone else. It does seem likely that he was a brother to John Hensley (c1815), also a possible son of Ichabod. For the 1820 census, Miller would have been either about 1 year old or less, so he should be enumerated in the age "under 10" category (born ca 1810/20). However, since the 1820 census is lost for half of Tennessee (the eastern half), there is no way to determine where he might have been that year. For the 1830 census, Miller Hensley would have been about 11 years old, so he should be enumerated in the age 10-14 category (born ca 1815/20). Ichabod was in Morgan County, Alabama that year, and had one apparent son that age, but there is no way to be sure it is Miller, but it could be. (Ichabod also has a suspected son named Rufus, born ca 1816 who should have been home in 1830 as well). On 11 Dec 1837, Miller Hensley married Dicie Davidson in Morgan Co, AL. Dicie was born ca 1821/22 in Alabama. I don't know who her parents were. I have not seen this marriage record, so I don't know if it gives "Miller" or "William" as the groom's name. I think that Joyce Cooper shared this info with me many years ago and in her data I think it said "William". I'll have to confirm this. Miller Hensley was listed on the 1840 census in Morgan Co, AL next to his probable brother John Hensley (c1815). No other Hensleys were listed in Morgan County that year. 1840 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census) 1840 Morgan Co, AL pg 4 M. Miller Hensley and family and his brother John and his family evidently lived in this section for they were found in Marshall County after that (either that, or they actually moved into Marshall County in the 1840's). Miller and family were listed on the 1850 census in Marshall County, Alabama, but not near any of the other Hensleys who were there that year.
