Hensley Census Records 1790 - 1860* Note: "Hensley" is surname that can be spelled in a variety of ways including: Henslee, Hensly, Hencely, Hensleigh, Hansley, Hinsley, and various others. Some of these names were spelled one way consistently, others changed with each census or each record. Since that is the case, I am 100% confidant that these census records are incomplete. I have probably overlooked Hensley's in some areas due to the spelling or due to faulty census indexes, etc. I transcribed a good portion of these census records myself, but I owe my cousin Laura Schreibman a big thank you as well, since quite a few of these were transcribed by her and shared with me in years past, and also published in her book "Hensley Households". If you know of any Hensley census listings (1840 and prior) that I have missed, please let me know. I am slowly working my way through the 1850 listings for various states. In some cases, I'm also transcribing the 1860 census records, but I may not do this for every state. All states are not available for each census year, or if they are available and not included here that means I haven't gotten to them yet, or they had no Hensley's listed.
