The author (Marty Grant) is not related to Isaac Hensley
as far as can be proven. His father Samuel Hensley might be a
brother to my ancestor Larkin
Hensley (c1761-1806). If so, then Isaac is my 1st cousin 6 times
removed.
Isaac Bledsoe Hensley was born 9 Jun 1830 (**
Source? **) in Washington Co., VA. He was apparently named for Isaac
Bledsoe a pioneer settler of the region, and an associate of Samuel
Hensley. I don't know if Isaac Bledsoe was is related to the Hensleys or
not.
Isaac B. Hensley is a son of
Samuel Hensley (1754-1841) and
his second wife Margaret Crawford. This is proven by Samuel's Will of
1838 naming (among others) son "Isaac Hensley."
Isaac appears to be listed
with his father for the 1830 census as a male aged under 5 (born ca
1825/30).
Isaac seems to be home with his father for the 1840 census
aged 10-14 (born ca 1825/30).
Isaac B. Hensley married Elizabeth Hashberger
before 1850 in Washington Co., VA. ** I have no proof of her maiden name
but there was a Hashberger family in neighboring Scott County in 1850.
(None in Washington that year.) Henry Hashberger (c1805) and wife Polly
had a large family. They are probably Elizabeth's parents though I have no
direct evidence of that.

The family moved to Union Co., IN between 1852 and 1855. I
don't know what drew them to that particular county.
They were listed on the 1860 census in Union County,
Harrison Township. Sampson Hensley (c1829 VA) was about 40 households
away. I don't know if they are related or not. I have not been able to
determine who Sampson Hensley was. He died in the 1860's leaving a widow
Cynthia and a couple of children in Union County.

By 1870 Isaac and family had moved to neighboring Fayette Co., IN. The
entry looks unusual. They appear to be living with Samuel and Rebecca Laflin (Laughlin?) and there is also a William Hensley (c1821 VA) living
with them. I don't know who he is. This census shows Joel and Sarah to
be twins, though it is Joel and Eliza who are actually twins. That brings
the entire entry into question. The 1870 census is one of the worst census
of them all for some reason. Errors are rampant.

Isaac Bledsoe Hensley died on 26 Aug 1895, and Elizabeth
Hashberger Hensley died on 3 Apr 1900. ** I don't know the source for
either date, nor do I know where they died exactly.
Children of Isaac Hensley. Isaac and
Elizabeth had five known children. I don't have much data on them.
