Samuel Hensley (d after 1787) family of Bedford Co, VA

 

A note about sources

Samuel Hensley was listed on the 1782 tax list and 1787 census for Bedford Co, VA. I'm not totally sure he is the father of James, John, et al, but it seems he is the most logical choice, as there were no other Hensley's in Bedford at the time they were marrying. James, John, Milly, Benjamin, Samuel (Jr), Nancy and William are most assuredly siblings, as they each witnessed public transactions for each other, or were bondsman for each other in their marriages and in other records. Samuel's wife was named Lilly Ann or Lilla Ann based on two marriage bonds for their daughters. A notation says it may be "Silla" instead. There was a Sibba in Albemarle Co, VA, but I don't know if there is a connection.
