> Samuel Hensley
There were several different men named Samuel
Hensley in Virginia from the 1700's through 1800. There is so much room
for confusion here that I thought it was necessary to create this page to
try to help keep them sorted out.
I've numbered the earliest men as Samuel (1),
Samuel (2), etc. in an attempt to avoid confusion while simply writing
about them. This page will just be
a summary of the Samuels. Each one will have their own page with more
details.
Samuel
Hensley (1) and wife unknown, and 2nd wife Elizabeth
This Samuel Hensley was born in the 1600's, and lived in
King George Co., VA and later lived in Orange and Spotsylvania Co., VA. He
made his Will in 1732 naming three grown sons by his first wife, and three
other sons by his second wife. He died by 1735. One of his sons was Samuel
Hensley (2).
This Samuel Hensley was born ca 1705 or so, a son of
Samuel (1). He appeared in records in Spotsylvania Co., VA until his death
in 1765. He married Martha Snell in 1727.
This Samuel was born ca 1724 or earlier, he was found in
Louisa Co., VA records through ca 1767.
This Samuel was probably born in the 1740's or
thereabouts. He lived in Bedford Co., VA where he died ca 1790.
This Samuel was born ca 1760 or thereabouts. He is a son
of Benjamin Hensley (6) of
Albemarle. Samuel died between 1802 and 1810 in Albemarle.
This Samuel was from Virginia, probably Culpeper County. I
don't have a good estimate of his birth, but before ca 1755 at least. His
family was found in Laurens and Abbeville Districts, South Carolina by
1800.
Others
There were other Samuel Hensleys born in VA in the
1770's, 80's and more recently. The confusion among them is minimal so I
won't discuss them here.
