The geographic scope of my interest in the Patterson surname is limited to selected counties in Western North Carolina and selected counties in Northern Georgia and in Western South Carolina. My time frame of interest is the 1700's through circa 1860.

  • Atha Jane Patterson (c1840 Macon). * Here in 1850 with Harris Powell (c1822 SC) and Aily (---) Powell (c1822 SC) family. They were two houses from Frances, widow of West Patterson, and 2 houses from Herren Patterson (c1812) and five houses from John Patterson (c1810). Any of those could be her parents, it seems clear she is somehow part of that family *

  • Evan S. Patterson (c1828 SC) * Here in 1850 with Herren Patterson (c1812), brothers? *

  • John Patterson (c1810) and Malinda --- of NC (Macon, Jackson, Transylvania) and SC (Pickens, Oconee)
  • Matthew Patterson (c1836 SC) * Here in 1850 with Herren Patterson (c1812), brothers, Uncle/Nephew? Same person (I think) in 1880 Pickens Co, SC with wife and child in Eastatoe Township *
  • West Patterson (1784/90) and Frances --- of SC (Edgefield) and NC (Buncombe, Haywood, Macon, Jackson, Transylvania)
