Jackson County, North CarolinaFormation and Divisions | Status of Records | My Ancestral Names | Web Links | Books Available Formation and DivisionsJackson County was created in 1851 from Haywood and Macon Counties. Transylvania County was formed from part of Jackson in 1861. Swain County was formed from part of Jackson in 1871. Status of RecordsAs far as I know, Jackson County has suffered no major record losses. I have been to and through Jackson County many times, but have never made it to the Court House to do any research. All my research there (so far) has been "remote" via the NC Archives or via published records.
