Formation and Divisions

Carteret Precinct was created in 1722 from part of Craven Precinct. Both were "divisions" of Bath County until Bath was dissolved in 1739, and all "Precincts" became "Counties".

Status of Records

Carteret County has suffered no major record losses as far as I know.

I have been to and through Carteret County many times, but have never stopped to do any research. All my research there (so far) has been "remote" via the NC Archives or via published records.
