Wayne County, North CarolinaFormation and Divisions | Status of Records | My Ancestral Names | Web Links | Books Available Formation and DivisionsWayne County was created in 1779 from Dobbs County. Wilson County was formed from part of Wayne in 1855. Status of RecordsWayne County has not suffered any major records losses as far as I know. Some early records are missing for some reason (marriage bonds for example). I've been to Wayne County many times. The Court House is well organized (and recently renovated). The Public Library has a very nice Local History and Genealogy room with a good collection.
