History (Formation and Divisions) |
| Pendleton County was created in
1789 as a division (no government) of Ninety-Six
District and continued as a geographic division of Ninety-six until
1791. |
| In 1791, Pendleton County was annexed to
Washington District. |
| In 1798, "Pendleton County" became
"Pendleton District" and no longer part of Washington District. |
| In 1826, Pendleton District was
abolished by being divided into Anderson and
Pickens Districts. |

Availability and Location of Records |
| Pendleton District records are still
mostly available, as far as I know, having been transferred to Anderson
District, I think, or both Anderson and Pickens. |
| Census records available:
1790 thru 1820 records are all extant |
