Barnes Genealogy - Wilkes Co., NC
Welcome to my Barnes web pages. I have two Barnes lines, this one, and another one in Marion County, South Carolina. (Click for more on that one.)
My ancestor Samuel Carter (1733-1804) was married to Mary Barnes (1734-1823). Quaker records show her to be the daughter of Brinsley Barnes (c1713-c1794) and Elizabeth Lindley of Chester Co., PA and Wilkes Co., NC.
I have done very little research on this line myself, so I don't know how accurate the above is.

Barnes DNA Project - Use DNA testing to break down your genealogical brick walls and find out which genetic branch of the family you are part of. Click link for details. I'm not involved in the Barnes project, but I highly recommend it. A descendant of Brinsley Barnes has tested and is listed in "Group 11" on the DNA results list (use the link above for more).
Barnes is the 79th most common surname in America. Barns is the 6,884th most common. (Source: Name Statistics)
