I (Marty Grant) am a Great grandson of Willie and Henrietta Campbell.
Willie Spencer Campbell was born in September 1880 in Marion Co, SC, probably just north of Mullins. He was called "Willie". His middle name was after his father's name. I don't know if "Willie" was in honor of anyone. I don't believe it was short for William, for no records show him as "William".
Willie is a son of Spencer Alva Campbell and Celia A. Johnson. This was common knowledge in the family (and told to me by several of Willie's children), and is also proven by the 1900 census, and Willie's death certificate.
Willie was baptized on 3 Apr 1881 by the Rev. Simeon Campbell (1829-1912), son of Elizabeth Campbell. (Willie and Simeon were 1st cousins, twice removed). Simeon Campbell recorded this baptism in his Diary ("Diary of Rev. Simeon Campbell", page 112, Marion Public Library). He listed him by his full name "Willie Spencer Campbell". Rev. Campbell was a Methodist Preacher, so presumably that means that Spencer and Celia were Methodists as well. Strangely, none of Willie's siblings were baptized by Simeon Campbell.
Willie was home with his parents for the 1900 census in Marion County, Reaves Township (Mullins area).
My Uncle Durham Campbell told me how Willie went to Horry County to get his wife. He didn't know how they met, but Willie S. Campbell married Henrietta Edwards in Horry Co, SC in 1909 or 1910. They returned to the Mullins area to live.
Henrietta Edwards was born 6 Jan 1893 in Horry Co, SC near the town of Aynor in Gallivants Ferry Township. Her parents were Gabriel E. Edwards and Celia C. Johnson.
Willie and Henrietta were listed on the 1910 census in Marion County, in Reaves Township, next door to his parents. They reported to have been married for "0" years, so presumably less than 12 months (hence my belief they were married ca 1909/10). The only mistake I found was in the place of birth for Henrietta's father, reported here as "VA", when in fact, it should be "NC".

Willie moved his family to Marion before 1920. I don't know if they lived in town, or just near town, but they were listed on the 1920 census in Marion Township. I don't have their entry typed up yet, but they were on page 67, household # 112.
Willie S. Campbell died on 23 Apr 1935 from "Lobar Pneumonia" (per death certificate), he was 56 years old, per the death certificate. He was only 54 if his "1880" birth year is correct. His tombstone also has 1880, so apparently the death certificate was wrong about his age. However, the rest of the data seems very accurate. Ira Campbell, of Aynor, SC was the informant (Willie's oldest son).
Willie was buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. He and Henrietta share a stone, his side says "Willie S. Campbell 1880-1935".
Henrietta lived out her remaining years with various family members, and in the 1960's at least, she was with her son Alva Campbell and family. My mother remembers Henrietta living with them, up until her death in 1963.
Henrietta died on 21 Oct 1963 at age 70 of "Pulmonary Insufficiency" (per death certificate). She was buried beside Willie at Rose Hill Cemetery. Her side of the shared stone says "Henrietta E. Campbell 1893-1963".
Willie and Henrietta raised six children. All married and raised families. Three are living, three are deceased. I'll not provide any family details in order to protect the privacy of the living members of this generation.
One of Willie and Henrietta's children was my grandfather Alva Gabriel Campbell.
