Johnson Genealogy - Horry County and Marion County, South Carolina
Welcome to my Johnson web pages. This name is also spelled Johnston. I have another Johnson line, not related to these. Click here to see more on the Johnsons of Knox, Blount and Monroe Co., TN.
I have two Johnson lines in the region, one in Horry the other in Marion. They don't appear to be related to each other as far as I can determine.
My Horry County lineage begins with my most recent Johnson ancestor Celia Caroline Johnson (1855-1910) who married Gabriel Edwards ca 1872 in Horry Co., SC. Celia is a daughter of Allen Warren Johnson (c1825-c1860s) and Celia Floyd who married ca 1851 in Horry. Allen's parents are unknown.
My Marion County Johnson lineage begins with Celia A. Johnson (1857-1937) who married Spencer A. Campbell 1875 in Marion Co., SC. Celia is a daughter of Carey Johnson (1820-1900) and Ara Campbell who married ca 1844 in Marion District. Carey is a son of Benjamin Johnson (c1780-c1820s) and Mary (---). Benjamin is a son of Samuel Johnson (bef 1755-c1811) and Mary (---). Samuel's parents are unknown. He was in what is now Marion Co., SC by the 1780's at least.
Since this is such a very common name my interest is limited to Horry, Marion, Dillon and Florence Counties, no where else (except for my other line in eastern TN).
