Help
This page is meant to give some helpful hints on how
to find what you are looking for on my web pages.
The search engine can be used
to find anything on this site.
Surname Specific information
The major part of martygrant.com is divided up by my ancestral
surnames. Each Surname section is roughly
equivalent to an entire website unto itself. Each Surname section usually has
the following sub-pages:
-
What's New page showing
recent updates to this surname section.
-
My Lineage pages showing my
ancestors of this surname, as well as a history of my research of the family,
some acknowledgements, etc. (Sometimes the acknowledgements are on their own
page.)
-
Researcher Lists showing
names and e-mail addresses of others researching my ancestral line (and
branches). Each Documented Family page will also have researcher lists (if not
connected to my family.)
-
Documented Family Lines
with documentation, commentary, etc. for each family. I also include Register Reports for each family
as well as researcher lists for each line, if applicable.
-
Census Records for that
surname, with census abstracts for the surname (usually 1790-1850, but
sometimes including 1860 and more recent.)
-
Helpful Web links for
each surname with links to other surname or location specific sites that
should interest researchers of that surname.
Other pages (not surname specific)
Besides the Surname sections, I also have other pages
that are of interest. I have a section devoted to my
Ethnic ancestry. Although most of my American ancestors were of western
European origin ("white"), some of mine were dark skinned and of a more
mysterious origin. They could be Native American (Cherokee), or "Black Dutch",
or Melungeon, or part Black (of African origin.) I don't really know the
answers. I've included census records for those "Free Persons of Color" in
Western NC (1790-1850), and various commentaries and links.
I also have some reference
pages including a couple of census abstracts for various counties, pages
showing common nicknames, and other data.
I have set up Information
pages for various states and counties giving data on their creation, status
of records, links to online data, and links to published records that can be
purchased online.
I have my own bookstore
of books I've written, all genealogy related.
Finally, last but certainly not least, I have
Christian pages set up with testimony about my
faith, information on salvation and other interesting data.
If you can't find what you are looking for on my pages,
even after trying the search engines, then that means the data isn't here, or
else there is some kind of problem. Let me know.
