I (Marty Grant) am a 5th Great Grandnephew of Job Winfrey.
Special thanks to Jim Cockerham and others for data shared on this family.
Job Winfrey was born ca 1774/84, probably in Surry (or Wilkes) Co, NC in the Mitchells River area. Job Winfrey is almost certainly a son of Isaac and Sarah Winfrey. I've seen no direct proof of their relationship, but circumstantial evidence in abundant.
Job seemed to be at home with his parents for the 1787 and 1790 census in Wilkes Co, NC and the 1800 census in Surry Co, NC.
On 23 Jan 1805 Isaac Winfrey deeded property to his son Job Winfrey. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Surry Co, NC Deed Book M page 124).
On 30 Jan 1807 Job Winfree obtained a marriage bond in Surry Co, NC to marry Elizabeth Canaday (aka "Kennedy"). Jesse Canaday was the bondsman. He may have been Elizabeth's brother.
Two months later Aaron Canaday deeded property to Job Winfrey. Aaron was Elizabeth's father. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Surry Co, NC Deed Book L page 263).
Job Winfrey was listed on the 1810 census in Surry Co, NC. His father Isaac was listed on the next page.

On 17 Mar 1812 Job Winfrey witnessed a deed from his father Isaac to Jane Holbrooks (Job's sister). Isaac Winfrey "of Surry" sold several slaves in Wilkes Co, NC to Jenny Holbrooks (his daughter). A negro girl named Tame, a negro boy named Ben and another named Ashton. Witnesses were Job "Winfree" and Jesse Caudill. (Wilkes Co, NC Deed Book GH page 211).
On 16 Feb 1814 Job Winfrey sold property to Thomas Douglass of Ashe Co, NC. I don't have the details yet. (Surry Co, NC Deed Book N page 243).
It would seem that Job and family moved to Wilkes Co, NC after selling their property in Surry in 1814.
Job Winfrey must have gotten sick or something, for he made a noncupative Will on 3 Apr 1815 in Wilkes Co, NC. His wie Elizabeth and four children (no names given) were mentioned in the Will. Father-in-law Aaron Canaday was th be executor. (Wilkes Co, NC Will Book 3 page 99).
Job Winfrey died on 7 Apr 1815, just four days after making his Will, per Jesse Caudill a witness of the Will. He was no more than about 41 years old.
The following year, on 24 Dec 1816, William Bozwell obtained a marriage bond in Wilkes Co, NC to marry Elizabeth Winfrey, widow of Job.
William was listed on the 1820 census in Wilkes, but I have no record of him after that, nor of Elizabeth.

I have very little direct proof for any children of Job Winfrey and Elizabeth Canaday, however, they had at least two daughters based on the 1810 census.
Unknown Daughter (c1804/10) Caroline Winfrey
Unknown Daughter born ca 1804/10, or more likely, ca 1807/10, assuming she was born after Job and Elizabeth's 1807 marriage. A daughter this age was with Job for the 1810 census, and with William Bozwell in 1820.
I suspect, but can't prove yet, that this was Caroline Winfrey who married William W. Pigg in Surry Co, NC on or after 22 Oct 1837. William Pigg was much older than Caroline, and had been previously married to Sarah Mosier in 1812. William Pigg was listed on the 1840 Census in Surry Co, NC. I have no additional data on that family yet, nor am I completely sure that Caroline is a daughter of Job, but the apparent wife with William W. Pigg in 1840 was born ca 1800/10, so that fits.

So far, I have no clues who this daughter was.
Unknown Son born ca 1810/20, or more likely, ca 1810/15, assuming he was was a son of Job and Elizabeth, instead of William and Elizabeth. Two apparent sons this age (and two apparent daughters) were with William Bozwell in 1820, and since he only married Elizabeth in December 1816, it seems reasonably that one or two of these children were from her first marriage, but so far I have no additional information.
