Beasley Genealogy - Onslow Co., NC
Welcome to my Beasley genealogy pages. I am interested in the Beasley surname in Onslow Co., NC where they resided since the 1700s. I may expand my research to other areas once I determine where mine originated.
Beasley was the 679th most common surname in the United States per the 2000 census. It had dropped to 732nd by 2010. There are several variant (mis)spellings such as Beesley, Beazley, Beezley, Beasly, etc.
I should note up-front that I’m not 100% certain of my connection to this family. That means there is a chance I’m not actually related to them. The weak link is that I’m not sure if my ancestor Osborne Jenkins is actually a son of Lewis Jenkins and wife Sarah (Beasley) Jenkins. Circumstantial evidence suggests those are his parents, but it’s far from proven at this point.
My most recent Beasley ancestor is my 5th Great Grandmother, Sarah Beasley (c1770/75-aft 1830) of Onslow Co., NC. She married Lewis Jenkins (1770/74-aft 1836) in 1794 in Onslow. I believe she’s a daughter of Benjamin Beasley.
Benjamin Beasley (bef 1755-aft 1810) was in Onslow by 1790, perhaps much earlier, though I’m not sure yet. I haven’t found the name of his wife yet, nor his parents. I assume he’s related to Thomas Beasley Sr and Jr who were in Onslow in 1781, though I don’t know what their connection is.
