My most recent Fouts ancestor is Rebecca Fouts (1822-1900/10) who married Michael J. Waters 1838 in Macon Co., NC. Rebecca's parents are Jacob Fouts (c1786-1852) and Mary Margaret Baker who married ca 1805 in Ashe Co., NC.
I've never seen any direct proof, but other researchers show Jacob Fouts to be a son of John Leonard Fouts (c1755-c1799) and Catherine Shearer.
Leonard Fouts is said to be a son of Theobald Dewald "David" Fouts (c1722-c1782) and Catherine Spengel. His parents are unknown.
