Special Thanks to Ruthe Muench and Laura Schreibman for information shared on this family. All Washington County tax list records mentioned on this page were transcribed and shared by Laura.

Fielding Hensley was born ca 1760/61. I base this on two primary pieces of evidence. First of all the 1830 census lists him as age 60-69 (born between 1760 and 1770.) His first known public record was dated 1782, so assuming he was at least 21 then, he was born ca 1761 or before. Reconcile the two records leaves only ca 1760-61.

I don't know what county he was born in but he did live in Buckingham Co., VA in the early 1780's before coming to Washington County. Buckingham is a burned records county so I don't know how early the Hensleys lived there. Fielding could have born somewhere else and moved there while young. If he is a brother to Samuel and Joseph Hensley, then he was probably born in Culpeper Co., VA.

I have not been able to determine who Fielding's parents were. It has been suggested by others (and I concur) that he might be a brother to one or several of the other Hensleys about his age who also settled in Washington County, Virginia. This list includes: Robert Hensley (c1759), Joseph Hensley (1750/60-1832), Larkin Hensley (c1761-1806), Samuel Hensley (1754-1841) and William Hensley (bef 1761-aft 1810). There is no direct proof that any of them are brothers, but they did all apparently know each other and lived near each other. They are certainly related in some close fashion. See my general commentary on Hensleys of Washington County, Virginia for more information.

Proven sisters Milly Hensley (1760/65-aft 1850) (wife of William Cornett) and Agnes Hensley (c1763-1850) (wife of William Godsey) were both from Buckingham Co., VA and both lived in Washington Co., VA for a time. These two are quite possibly siblings to Fielding Hensley as well, but no real proof.

Culpeper County was formed in 1749 from Orange County. Buckingham was formed in 1761 from Albemarle. Culpeper and Buckingham are not really that close together, so I don't know if the Hensleys of one are connected to those in the other. It is certainly interesting that Hensleys from both those counties wound up together in Washington County. Could be coincidental of course.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the 1782 tax list in Buckingham Co., VA. William Hensley was also listed there. A man of that name came to Washington Co., VA also. May be same one, especially if Fielding's brother.

On 16 Nov 1782, Fielding Hansley and Alexander Donelson witnessed an agreement between Henry Levingston (Livingston) and Peter Levingston of rights in his father's William Todd Levingston's estate. This shows that Fielding was in Washington Co., VA by late 1782. (Washington Co., VA Will Book 1 page 108).

Fielding Hensley was listed on the tax lists in Washington County 1785 through 1790. He was not listed in 1782 through 1784.

On 11 Nov 1783 a treasury warrant was issued to Fielding Hensley for 54 acres (# 2702) on Cove Creek on Walker's Mountain, bordering Joseph Hensley and Nathaniel Cornett. Joseph Hensley (1750/60) could be Fielding's brother or somehow closely related. This wasn't granted until several years later.

On the same date (11 Nov 1783), Agnes Hensley, assignee of Fielding Hensley, had a treasury warrant (land entry) issued to her for 25 1/2 acres on Cove Creek bordering Hartsock. Agnes Hensley (c1763) could be a sister or sister-in-law to Fielding. "Assignee" means that although Fielding was the one entitled (or qualified) to receive this land, he transferred his rights to Agnes Hensley for some reason. How are they related?

Also on that date (11 Nov 1783), Fielding Hensley entered two other warrants, one for 67 acres on both sides of North Fork of Holston River, the other 94 acres same location, described as at foot of Piny Mountain in Rich Valley, and 54 acres on Nathaniel Cornett's corner and Joseph Hensley's corner.

Fielding Hensley married someone, name unknown, sometime prior to ca 1785, probably in Washington Co., VA. No marriage record has been found, nor any indication of her given name. It is also possible that Nancy (c1782) was his first and only wife. There is no hard proof that he was married prior to her, just speculation based on some children born in the 1780's and 1790's that might be his.

The 1790 census is lost for Virginia.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the tax lists in Washington County 1791 through 1800.

On 24 Sep 1793 Fielding Hensley was paid for his services of 2 months 1 day as a private in the Washington Co., VA militia. (Virginia Calendar of State Papers Vol. 6 p. 687)

Fielding Hensley was listed in Washington Co., VA Tract entry book for a 67 acre warrant (# 20702) dated 11 Nov 1783. The land was on both sides of North fork Holston. It was surveyed 9 May 1796. (Granted 26 Nov 1798, see below).

Fielding Hensley was listed in Washington Co., VA Tract entry book for a 94 acre warrant (# 20702). The land was on Cove Creek, south branch of North Fork of Holston, foot of Piny Mountain, in Rich Valley. Surveyed 3 May 1796. Also a 54 acres tract on Nathaniel Cornett's corner, and corner of Joseph Hensley's survey.

On 18 Oct 1798 Fielding Hensley was recommended as a Ensign in the Washington Co., VA militia in 2nd Battalion, 70th Regiment to replace William Carmack who was promoted. (Clark, Gerald H. The Militia of Washington County, VA Officers 1777-1835 Militia Men 1798-1835. 1979)

On 20 Nov 1798 Fielding Hensley received a land grant of 54 acres on Cove Creek. (Land Office Grants No. 38, 1797-1799, p. 431 (Reel 104))

On 26 Nov 1798 Fielding Hensley received a land grant of 94 acres on Cove Creek. (Land Office Grants No. 38, 1797-1799, p. 494 (Reel 104))

On that same date (26 Nov 1798) Fielding Hensley received a land grant of 67 acres on both sides of North Fork of Holston River. (Land Office Grants No. 38, 1797-1799, p. 510 (Reel 104))

Most of the above land grants were for warrants issued way back in 1783. I don't know what took so long!

Mrs. Hensley died sometime, perhaps in the 1790's. Fielding Hensley married second to Nancy ---, sometime prior to ca 1800. I don't know Nancy's maiden name but it might be Cornett (see records dated 1822 below.) She was born ca 1781/82 (per age of 62 on 1850 census) in Buckingham Co., VA (presumably, for she stated she was raised in that county.)

The 1800 census is lost for Virginia.

On 21 May 1800 Fielding Hensley was recommended as a Lieutenant in the Washington Co., VA militia in 2nd Battalion, 70th Regiment to replace William Carmack who was resigned. Sampson Hensley replaced Fielding as Ensign. Fielding didn't last long in his new position for he resigned and was replaced by William Head on 18 Jun 1800. (Clark, Gerald H. The Militia of Washington County, VA Officers 1777-1835 Militia Men 1798-1835. 1979)

Fielding Hensley was listed on the tax lists in Washington County 1801 through 1810.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the 1806 through 1810 tax lists with no white tithes. I don't know why he was listed with no tithes. Perhaps he was exempted by the court for some reason or another. Or perhaps he no longer lived in the county at the time, but still had his property there.

The list of Washington County Militiamen for 1808 shows Fielding Hensley in Capt. Fulkerson's Company, 2nd Battalion, 105th Regiment.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the 1810 census in Washington Co., VA.  He was listed two houses from William Hensley (1765/84), a brother perhaps?

His 1813 land entry described his land as being "improved on N. Fork" and the 1814 entry described it as being 35 miles west of the court house.

In 1814 Scott County was formed from the western part of Washington, taking several of the Hensleys into the new county, including Fielding.

Fielding Hensley was on the 1815 tax list in Scott Co., VA with 2 white males over 21, 5 horses and 11 cattle.

On 9 May 1815 Fielding Hensley, with John Wood and John Wolf, his securities, entered into a bond to be administrator of estate of William Cornett, deceased. (Scott Co., VA Minute Book 1). This isn't the same William Cornett who married Milly Hensley for he was still alive into the 1820's.

Fielding Hensley was on the 1816 tax list with 2 white males over 21, and 5 horses.

Fielding Hensley was on the 1817 tax list with 2 white males over 16, and 5 horses.

On 4 Nov 1817 Fielding Hensley bought 50 acres from William Atkerson. (Scott Co., VA Deed Book 2 page 135)

Fielding Hensley was on the 1818 tax list with 3 white males over 16, and 5 horses.

Fielding Hensley was on the 1819 tax list with 3 white males over 16, and 4 horses.

Fielding Hensley was on the 1820 tax list with 2 white males over 16, and 5 horses.

Fielding was listed on the 1820 census in Scott Co., VA.  Unfortunately, this census was alphabetical, so I can't tell who their neighbors were.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the 1821 tax list in Scott Co., VA with 5 horses and no slaves.

Fielding was listed on the 1822 tax list 2 white males over 16, and 1 horse.

In Scott County Court on  15 Feb 1822 the heirs of William Cornett, deceased, sued Fielding Hensley and others. Fielding had been named administrator of the estate back in 1815 and one might think that was the only reason he was being sued, however his wife Nancy was also named in the case. That strongly suggests that she was also an heir to the estate as well:

February the 15th 1822

Samuel Cornett, & Roger Cornett  } complts
vs.
Lucy Cornett, Fielding Hensley & Nancy his wife }
Mary Cornett, James Thomas & Sarah his wife }
and John Brown & Lucy his wife } Defts

The case summary itself didn't state any relationships, but did mention that Fielding Hensley was the administrator of William Cornett, deceased. See record dated 1815 above for when he became administrator. Based only on this 1822 court record, I would assume that Nathaniel, William, Samuel and Roger Cornett are sons of William who died 1815; and that Nancy Hensley, Mary Cornett, Sarah Thomas and Lucy Brown are daughters of William. Lucy Cornett is probably the widow since another Lucy was also named (unless she is the widow and remarried by 1822.) I found Roger, Nathaniel and William Cornett in Clay Co., KY in 1820.

Fielding was listed on the 1823 tax list 2 white males over 16, and no horses.

On 20 May 1823 Fielding Hensley and Nancy his wife sold 94 acres to Henry Lowe of Washington Co., VA. The land was on Cove Creek. Fielding signed, Nancy made her mark. Nancy relinquished her dower rights before Samuel Hensley and Abram Fulkerson, Justices of the Peace. (Scott Co., VA Deed Book 8 page 112.)

Fielding was listed on the 1824 tax list 2 white males over 16, and no horses.

Fielding was listed on the 1825 tax list 2 white males over 16, and no horses.

Fielding was listed on the 1826 tax list 1 white male over 16, and no horses.

Fielding Hensley Sr was listed on the 1831 tax list in Scott Co., VA. I don't know why the "Sr" was necessary unless there was a younger Fielding Hensley in the county at the time with whom he might be confused. He had 2 white males over 16, no horses.

Fielding Hensley was listed on the 1832 tax list with 1 white male over 16.

Fielding Hensley was not listed on the 1833 or later tax lists for he died around that time.

Fielding Hensley was dead before 26 Jan 1833 for on that date his personal estate was sold. The estate records mention Nancy Hensley, widow. Nathaniel Hensley and Mahala Hensley were among the purchasers. (Scott Co., VA Will Book 1 page 136).

Nancy Hensley was listed on the 1834 Scott County tax list with no males over 16, and 2 horses.

On 16 Apr 1840 James Larkey brought a suit against Nancy Hensley widow of Fielding Hensley, deceased, and administratrix of his estate, Zachariah Hensley and others. The case was dismissed and no details were given. Why was Zachariah one of the defendants? Is he an heir of Fielding? One might assume so, but this record does not say that. (Scott Co., VA Court Minute Book 1 page 98.)

Nancy Hensley was listed on the 1850 census in Scott Co., VA. She was head of household with her son Nathaniel and his family living with her. Son Ichabod Hensley (c1814) was two houses away, John A. Hensley (c1805) was three houses away.

Nancy Cornett Hensley died ca 1852 (** source? **) in Scott Co., VA. I don't know if the year of her death is accurate, but it does seem certain she was dead before 1860.

Children of Fielding Hensley. Fielding Hensley seems to have had several children. Most of them are unproven. I have only seen direct evidence for two: Nathaniel and Ichabod.

Many researchers list the children as: Jesse, Zachariah, Celia, John (or John A.), William, James and Barbara (as well as Nathaniel and Ichabod.) None of those others are proven. The evidence is slim or non existent that connects them to Fielding. Unfortunately Fielding left no Will, nor any significant estate records naming heirs. Using census analysis we can determine the approximate birth dates of some of Fielding's children, but this is not an exact science. The loss of the 1790 and 1800 census for Virginia makes a complete analysis impossible. He may have had children listed on those early census records who were already married and away from home by 1810. Fielding is listed on many tax lists and on a few he has more than one tithe, which in each case might be one or more of his sons coming of age.

Proven children:

  1. Nathaniel Hensley (c1800)
  2. Ichabod Hensley (c1814)

Others based on 1810-1840 census:

  1. Unknown Son (1784/94)
  2. Unknown Son (1794/1800)
  3. Unknown Daughter (1794/1800)
  4. Unknown Son (1802/04)
  5. Unknown Son (1804/10)
  6. Unknown Daughter (1800/04)
  7. Unknown Daughter (1804/10)
  8. Unknown Son (1810/20)
  9. Unknown Daughter (1810/15)
  10. Unknown Daughter (1815/20)
  11. Unknown Son (1825/30)

Nathaniel Hensley was born ca 1799/1800 (per age of 50 on 1850 census) or ca 1800/01 per his ages of 59 and 69 in 1860 and 1870 respectively. He was born in Virginia, presumably in Washington County (now Scott County).

Nathaniel is a proven son of Fielding and Nancy as named on his marriage record in 1860 when he married a second time. I would suspect that he was named for Nathaniel Cornett, his mother's probable brother.

Since he was born right in 1800, census analysis is a little difficult for he could be in two different age groups for each census record. In 1810 Fielding Hensley had 2 boys aged under 10 (born ca 1800/10). One of them could be Nathaniel, or he could be the boy aged 10-15 (born ca 1794/1800).

In 1820 Fielding Hensley had one son aged 16-25 (born ca 1794/1804). That has to be Nathaniel.

Nathaniel Hensley appeared on the Scott Co., VA tax lists for the first time in 1823, with 1 male over 16 and 2 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1824 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 3 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1825 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 2 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1826 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 3 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1827 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 3 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1828 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 1 horse.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1829 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 2 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1830 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 2 horses.

In 1830 Nathaniel Hensley was old enough to be on the census on his own, but he wasn't listed. He was probably still home with his parents. His father Fielding had 3 boys with him aged 20-29 (born ca 1800/10). One of those is probably Nathaniel, assuming he was still living at home then.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1831 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 2 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1832 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 4 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1833 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and 3 horses.

Nathaniel Hensley was listed on the 1834 Scott Co., VA tax lists with 1 male over 16 and no horses.

Nathaniel Hensley married Mahala Riley sometime before ca 1840 in Scott Co., VA. She was born ca 1819/20 in North Carolina, probably Wilkes County. I have not seen proof of her maiden name, but others say she is a sister to Nathaniel's second wife Matilda Riley. That would make her a daughter of George and Faraby (---) Riley. I found George Riley on the 1830 and 1840 census in Ashe Co., NC (borders Wilkes County).

Nathaniel Hensley was not listed on the 1840 census, but his widowed mother Nancy had a male aged 30-39 (born ca 1800/10) living with her. That is probably Nathaniel. There is also a female aged 20-29 (1810/20) which may be Nathaniel's wife Mahala, assuming they had married by 1840.

Nathaniel and family were in Scott Co., VA for the 1850 census with his mother Nancy.

Mahala Riley Hensley died sometime before 1860 for on 21 Jun 1860 Nathaniel Hensley married Matilda Riley in Scott Co., VA. The marriage record gave much data: Nathaniel, aged 54, widowed, born Washington Co., VA, son of Fielding and Nancy Hensley; to Matilda Riley, 39, single, born Wilkes Co., NC, daughter of George and Faraby Riley. Married by D. M. Barker.

Matilda Riley was born ca 1820/21 per her ages of 39 and 49 on the 1860 and 1870 census records.

They were listed on the 1860 census in Scott Co., VA. Neither of Nathaniel's children from 1850 were with them.

I was unable to find them in 1880. They may have both died in the 1870's.

Nathaniel and first wife Mahala had at least two children together (per 1850 census). I have no record of them after the 1850 census. It does not appear that Nathaniel and Matilda had any children, or at least none who were living as of the 1860 and 1870 census.

Ichabod Hensley was born May 1813 (per 1900 census). He was born in Virginia, presumably in Washington County (now Scott County).

Ichabod is a proven son of Fielding and Nancy as named on his marriage record in 1866 when he married a second time. I would suspect that he was named for Ichabod Hensley (c1780/83) or Ichabod C. Hensley (1792/94), both of whom seem to be related somehow. Refer to the page Ichabod Hensley - Analysis for more information on the various Ichabods.

In 1820 Fielding Hensley had two sons aged under 10 (born ca 1810/20). One of them is certainly Ichabod.

In 1830 Ichabod would have been about 16. His father Fielding had one boy with him aged 15-19 (born ca 1810/15). That is certainly Ichabod.

Achabud Hensley was listed on the 1833 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16.

Achabud Hensley was listed on the 1834 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16 and 1 horse.

Acebud Hensley was listed on the 1835 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16 and either 2 or 3 horses.

On 1 Feb 1835 Ichabod Hensley married Mariah Ramey in Scott Co., VA. They were married by James Kerr. Mariah was born ca 1812 in VA. I don't know who her parents were. There were lots of Rameys in Scott Co., VA.

Ichabod Hensley was listed on the 1836 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16, and 1 horse.

Ichabod Hensley was listed on the 1837 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16.

Icha. Hensley was listed on the 1838 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16, and 1 horse.

Icabod Hensley was listed on the 1839 tax list in Scott Co., VA. He had one white male over 16, and 2 horses.

Ichabod Hensley was listed on the 1840 census in Scott Co., VA. They were not listed near any other Hensleys, but there was a Jeremiah Ramey (1810/20) and a James Ramey Jr (1810/20) nearby. Those could be Mariah's brothers.

Mariah Ramey Hensley died sometime before 1866 for on 25 Aug 1866 Ichabod married Elizabeth Horne in neighboring Washington Co., VA. The marriage record was detailed: Ichabod Hensley of Scott Co., VA, widower, son of Fielding and Nancy Hensley, to Elizabeth Horne, daughter of Anthony and Susan Horne. Anthony Horne, bondsman. . Elizabeth had a son named Emit N. Horn(e) so perhaps she was a widow too, or a single mother.

They were listed on the 1870 census in Scott County next to brother Nathaniel Hensley. Elizabeth's son Emit Horne is listed here as a Hensley.

Elizabeth Horne Hensley died sometime before 1900 for Ichabod was listed on that census as a widower.

Ichabod was on the 1900 census in Scott Co., VA with widow Louisa Horne, his step-daughter-in-law.

I have no data on Ichabod after 1900. I didn't find him on the 1910 census.

Unknown Son (1784/94). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age with him for the 1810 census (aged 16-25, born ca 1784/94). This child was no longer at home with him for the 1820 census, so he was probably married or dead by then.

This could be Zachariah Hensley (c1793/94) who lived in Washington and Scott Co., VA until the 1850's when he moved his family to Kentucky. Zachariah is the right age, he was not listed on the 1810 census on his own, but was listed in 1820. He owned land that bordered land Fielding Hensley once owned, and he witnessed the affidavit of Nancy Hensley, widow of Fielding, when she testified on behalf of Agness Hensley Godsey's Revolutionary War Pension Application.

These few facts show that Zachariah Hensley was associated with Fielding's family and he was the right age to be this otherwise unknown son. The evidence for him being Fielding's son is not overwhelming so there is plenty of room for doubt. If he is a son, he is from a marriage prior to Nancy, since she was only about 11 or 12 years older than Zachariah.

Zachariah Hensley had an apparent sister Barbara Hensley (c1813) who was living with him in 1850 in Scott Co., VA. Since Fielding also had an unknown daughter that age, this is a little more evidence that perhaps Zachariah is Fielding's son.

See his own page for additional information.

Unknown Son (1794/1800). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age with him for the 1810 census (aged 10-15, born ca 1794/1800). This child was no longer at home with him for the 1820 census, so he was probably married or dead by then.

There is the possibility that this is proven son Nathaniel Hensley (c1800) since he was born in the year 1800 and could be enumerated in this age group in 1810. There is no way to be sure.

This might be John Hensley (c1798) who married Mary Head. I have no compelling evidence that John is a son of Fielding Hensley, but he fits age-wise.

Another possibility is William Hensley (c1797) who married Elizabeth Magee. He fits age-wise too, but no other evidence links him to Fielding as far as I've found.

Unknown Daughter (1794/1800). Fielding Hensley had an apparent daughter this age with him for the 1810 census (aged 10-15, born ca 1794/1800). This child was no longer at home with him for the 1820 census, so she was probably married or dead by then. or just living elsewhere.

Some researchers list Celia Hensley (c1794), wife of David Minnick, as a child of Fielding Hensley. If so, she would fit right here pretty well. The problem is that I've seen no proof that Celia was a child of Fielding, or that she was even a Hensley at all. (There may be proof, but I haven't seen it.) They did marry in Scott Co., VA before 1820, so that fits.

Unknown Son (1802/04). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age with him. In 1810 he was under 10 (born ca 1800/10).  In 1820 he was listed as age 16-17 (born ca 1802/04). In 1830 he was 20-29 (1800/10). By 1840 he was gone from his parents household.

The only one I've found who fits is John A. Hensley (c1805). John married in Pittsylvania Co., VA in 1834 and by the late 1830's was living in Campbell Co., VA, and back to Pittsylvania by 1840. He came (or returned) to Scott Co., VA by the mid 1840's. We don't know if John A. Hensley was a native to Pittsylvania or just moved there from Scott for some reason. There were Hensleys in Pittsylvania as far back as the 1700's.

Unknown Son (1804/10). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age. In 1810 he was under 10 (born ca 1800/10), in 1820 he was 10-15 (born ca 1804/10), and in 1830 aged 20-29 (1800/10). He was gone by 1840.

I don't have any strong suspects for who this son was.

Unknown Daughter (1800/04). Fielding Hensley had an apparent daughter this age with him for the 1810 census (aged under 10, born ca 1800/10), in 1820 aged 16-25 (born ca 1794/1804). This child was no longer at home for the 1830 census, so she was probably married or dead by then.

I don't know who she was. This could be Isabel Hensley (c1801) who married Robert Burke in 1835. She fits age-wise, but I have no data linking her to Fielding Hensley. She married the same day and by the same minister as Malinda Hensley (1819) (see below). Isabel and Robert Burke moved to Harlan Co., KY and were there in 1850 and 1860. I couldn't find them after that.

Unknown Daughter (1804/10). Fielding Hensley had an apparent daughter this age with him for the 1810 census (aged under 10, born ca 1800/10), in 1820 aged 10-15 (born ca 1804/10). This child was no longer at home for the 1830 census, so she was probably married or dead by then.

I don't know who she was.

Unknown Son (1810/20). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age with him for the 1820 census aged under 10 (1810/20). He was no longer at home with him for the 1830 census, so he was probably married or dead by then.

I have no suspects for who this son might have been.

Unknown Daughter (1810/15). Fielding Hensley had an apparent daughter this age with him for the 1820 census (aged under 10, born ca 1810/15), in 1830 aged 15-19 (born ca 1810/15). This child was no longer at home for the 1840 census, so she was probably married or dead by then.

Zachariah Hensley had an apparent sister Barbara Hensley (c1813) who was living with him in 1850. If he is Fielding's son, then perhaps Barbara is this unknown daughter. She fits age-wise.

See below for another possible match.

Unknown Daughter (1815/20). Fielding Hensley had an apparent daughter this age with him for the 1820 census (aged under 10, born ca 1810/15), in 1830 aged 10-14 (born ca 1815/20). This child was no longer at home for the 1840 census, so she was probably married or dead by then.

There were two Hensley girls who married on the same day (6 Aug 1835) in Scott County:

Malinda Hensley married George Head and Isabel Hensley (c1801) married Robert Burks. They were married the same day by the same man (James Kerr). This suggests it might have been a double ceremony, though maybe not. Were the two sisters? Were they children of Fielding Hensley?

Malinda was born ca 1818/19 so that fits here. She and her husband were in Scott Co., VA in 1840 and in Knox Co., KY in 1850, to Lawrence Co., IN by 1860, to McLean Co., IL by 1870 and to Linn Co., MO by 1880.

Unknown Son (1825/30). Fielding Hensley had an apparent son this age with him for the 1830 census aged under 5 (born ca 1825/30), he was still home in 1840 aged 10-14 (born ca 1825/30). This child was no longer at home with parents for the 1850 census, so he was probably married or dead by then.

I don't know who this might have been.
