I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to Benjamin Jenkins, but I'm sure he is somehow closely related to my ancestor Osborne Jenkins (c1803). I have a strong suspicion that they were brothers.
Benjamin Jenkins was born ca 1797/98 (per 1850 census) in NC, presumably in Onslow County, in the area that later became Stump Sound Township.
I haven't yet been able to identify Benjamin's parents, though my primary suspects are Lewis Jenkins and Sarah Beasley, but I have no hard evidence proving that.
Using the 1800 and 1810 census as clues, I find several possible candidates for his parents.
On the 1800 Onslow County census, Benjamin would have been about 2 years old, so he should be in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1790/1800). Several Onslow County Jenkins households contained an apparent son that age: Lewis Jenkins (1770/74) had two sons that age; John Jenkins (1770/75) had one; Daniel Jenkins had one, but his son is already proven. and Lewis Jenkins (Jr) had 2 sons that age.
The 1810 census provides additional clues. Benjamin should have been about 12 then, so he should be enumerated in the 10-15 age group (born ca 1794/1800). Lewis Jenkins (1770/74) had two sons that age, and he was the only one, though this does not guarantee that he is Benjamin's father.
On 10 Sep 1819 Sela Somerset of New Hanover Co, NC sold Benjamin Jenkins 100 acres. Witnesses were William Ennett and Owen Hansley. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 15 page 165, from Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, Vol II by Zae Harget Gwynn, and all subsequent deeds cited on this page are from this book).
Benjamin Jenkins may have married someone in the 1810-20 time-frame, or he may have still been single in 1820, though he was listed as head of household that year. However, the other occupants of the household included two women, one age 45+ (born before 1775), who could be his widowed mother, and the other female was age 10-15, born ca 1804/10, which could be a younger sister, or a young wife. They were not listed near any other Jenkins in 1820. They were next door to Nancy Beasley and William Holt.
1820 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census)

If Benjamin was not married yet by 1820, he was certainly married soon after. His wife (name unknown) was probably born ca 1800, for in 1830 she was age 30-39 (1790/1800) and in 1840 was 30-39 (1800/10), so the apparent wife in 1820 (1804/10) could be the same person if slightly mis-enumerated.
Benjamin Jenkins was listed on the 1830 census in Onslow Co, NC. He was a few houses from Lewis Jenkins (1770/74) and others.

On 24 Apr 1835 Benjamin Jenkins sold 100 acres to Thomas Edens. Witnesses were Burgess Williams and Auza Jenkins (Osborne Jenkins). (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 21 Page 146).
I've long suspected that Benjamin was a brother of Osborne's. In fact, I'm fairly sure of it, based mainly on association, and the fact that Benjamin named one of his sons "Auza".
Benjamin Jenkins was listed on the 1840 census in Onslow Co, NC. He was not listed near any of the other Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins died sometime before March 1845, for on 3 Mar 1845, Benjamin Jenkins obtained a marriage bond to marry Patsy Lane. Martha Lane was born ca 1807/08 (per 1850 census). I don't know if Lane was her maiden name, or if she was a widow.
The family was listed in Stump Sound District in Onslow County, NC on the 1850 census. There were several Jenkins families nearby. In fact, most of the Jenkins in Onslow in 1850 were very near each other.

On 16 May 1853 John C. Williams deeded something to Benjamin Jenkins. I don't know which Benjamin was being referred to as three of them were of age in 1853. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 120)
On 22 Mar 1854, Benjamin Jenkins Sr made his Will in Onslow County naming wife Patsey, eldest daughter, widow of Adam Deale. Eldest son Aza Jenkins, daughter Sarah, wife of Elijah Candady. Youngest son Edmond. Youngest daughter Eliza Eadens, wife of James Eadens. Executors were: Elijah Beesley, and Elijah Justice Jr. Witnesses were E.J. Beasley and, R.W. Justice. The Will was proven September 1855, so Benjamin had died by then. (Onslow Co, NC Will Book A page 67).
Martha Lane Jenkins, widow of Benjamin , was listed on the 1860 census in Onslow Co, NC with her step-son Auza and his wife. There was a young W. C. Jenkins (female) age 9 living with them, but she was too old to be Auza's daughter, or rather too young to be a child of his wife, though it is certainly possible that his wife in 1860 was a second wife.

I did not find Martha on the 1870 census.
Benjamin Jenkins and his first wife had several children together, several proven by his 1854 Will, and other by the 1850 census.
Catherine Jenkins was born ca 1819/20 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. She may not be a daughter of Benjamin Jenkins, but she was living with him in 1850. She was not named in his 1854 Will unless she is the same daughter he mentioned (but did not give her name) who was a widow of Adam Deale.
She did not seem to be home for the 1820 census, so probably born later in the year 1820 after the census taker came around.
She was apparently home with her parents in 1830 aged 10-14 (born ca 1815/20), and still apparently home in 1840 (age 15-19, born ca 1820/25). She was with her parents in 1850 ("Catherine" age 30).
Like I said, she was not named in her father's 1854 Will, so either she died before then; or was not his daughter, or was the same one named as widow of Adam Deale. If so, then she married Adam Deale between 1850 and 1854 (no marriage record found).
I did not find Catherine on the 1860 census, nor any marriage records for her in the 1850's.
Unknown Son (1820/25). Benjamin Jenkins had an apparent son this age. He was with him in 1830 (age 5-9, born ca 1820/25), but gone by 1840, so probably dead by then.
Unknown Son (1820/25). Benjamin Jenkins had an apparent son this age. He was with him in 1830 (age 5-9, born ca 1820/25), but gone by 1840, so probably dead by then.
Clarissa Jenkins was born ca 1828/29 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. She may not be a daughter of Benjamin Jenkins, but she was living with him in 1850. She was not named in his 1854 Will unless she is the same daughter he mentioned (but did not give her name) who was a widow of Adam Deale.
She was apparently home with her parents in 1830 aged "under 5" (born ca 1825/30), and still apparently home in 1840 (age 10-14, born ca 1825/30). She was with her parents in 1850 ("Clarissa" age 21).
Like I said, she was not named in her father's 1854 Will, so either she died before then; or was not his daughter, or was the same one named as widow of Adam Deale. If so, then she married Adam Deale between 1850 and 1854 (no marriage record found).
It is quite possible that Clarissa was a Lane, daughter of Benjamin's second wife, as this would explain why she wasn't named in Benjamin's Will, and other "problems" with placing her here, mainly that Benjamin's proven daughter Sarah Jenkins (c1830) would fit in the same census enumerations in 1830 and 1840, and there is not room for both her and Clarissa being in Benjamin's household those years.
I did not find Clarissa on the 1860 census, nor any marriage records for her in the 1850's.
Auza Jenkins was born ca 1829/30 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. He was apparently home with his parents in 1830 aged "under 5" (born ca 1825/30), and still apparently home in 1840 (age 10-14, born ca 1825/30).
On 20 Feb 1850 John Whitehurst deeded something to Ausa Jenkins. I don't know which Auza was being referred to. Was it Osborne Jenkins (c1803) (he used "Auza" also)? Or was it this Auza Jenkins (c1830). I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 26 page 241)
He was not with his parents in 1850, but was listed just a few houses away with the Elijah Justice family (relationship unknown, though he was named an Executor of Benjamin's Will).

On 16 May 1853 Harvey Cox deeded something to Auza Jenkins. I don't know which Auza was being referred to. Was it Osborne Jenkins (c1803) (he used "Auza" also)? Or was it this Auza Jenkins (c1830). I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 117)
Auza Jenkins married Martha A. "Patsy" --- in the 1850-60 time-frame. I did not find a marriage record for them.
Auza Jenkins was named in his father's 1854 Will.
They were listed on the 1860 census in Onslow County, with Auza's widowed step-mother residing with them. A 9 year old W. C. Jenkins (female) was living with them, but she is too old to be their daughter, unless she belongs to Auza and a previous wife, for he was old enough to be her father, but his wife was not old enough to be the child's mother.

Sarah Jenkins was born ca 1829/30 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. She was apparently home with her parents in 1830 aged "under 5" (born ca 1825/30), and still apparently home in 1840 (age 10-14, born ca 1825/30).
She married Elijah Canady before ca 1848 in Onslow County. I did not find a marriage record, but her father's 1854 Will proves her marriage to Elijah Canady. Elijah was born ca 1823/24 presumably in Onslow.
They were listed on the 1850 census in Onslow County, in Stump Sound Township.

I did not find Elijah nor Sarah on the 1870 census, but I found their son Elijah (Jr) living with another family, and a Charlie Canady living with another family. He was the same age as their "C. W." Canady, who was only 12, so if the same person this is probably proof that both parents were dead by then.
Edmund Jenkins was born ca 1832/33 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. He was apparently home with parents in 1840 aged 5-9 (born ca 1830/35), and still home in 1850 ("Edmund" age 17).
On 25 Apr 1853 Edmund Jenkins obtained a marriage bond to marry Nurcey Green. Nurcey was born ca 1832/33, I don't know who her parents were.
Edmund was named in his father's 1854 Will.
Edmund and family were listed on the 1860 census in Onslow County in Stump Sound Township near many other Jenkins.

I did not find his widow nor children on the 1870 census.
Nursey married William Chase sometime before 1872. They were listed on the 1880 census in Stump Sound Township.

I have no data on them after this.
Eliza Jenkins was born ca 1837/38 (per 1850 census), presumably in Onslow Co, NC. She was apparently home with parents in 1840 aged "under 5" (born ca 1835/40), and still home in 1850 ("Eliza" age 12).
Sometime before 1854, Eliza married James Edens, presumably in Onslow County, though I didn't find a marriage record. This marriage is proven by Eliza's father's 1854 Will which named her as his youngest daughter Eliza, and wife of James Eadens.
They were listed on the 1860 census in Stump Sound near several other Jenkins.

I did not find Eliza and children on the 1880 census.
Daughter married Adam Deale. Benjamin Jenkins mentioned a daughter in his 1854 will who was a widow of Adam Deale, though he did not give her name. I did not find a marriage record for a Deale and Jenkins, nor did I find Adam Deale on the 1850 census. There was a Catherine Deale age 28 living with another family, but no other likely widows (other than a 70 year old Ann Deale).
This could be either Catherine or Clarissa Jenkins who were with Benjamin Jenkins in 1850, but neither named in his 1854 Will.
