I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to William Jenkins, but I'm sure he is somehow closely related to my ancestor Osborne Jenkins (c1803).
William Jenkins was born ca 1823/24 presumably in Onslow County, in the area that later became Stump Sound Township.
I haven't yet been able to identify William's parents.
For the 1830 census, William Jenkins would have been about 6 years old, so should be enumerated in the 5-9 age group (born ca 1820/25). Several Jenkins households had an apparent son that age, so one of these could be William's family: Lear Jenkins (1770/80), Benjamin Jenkins (c1798), Osborne Jenkins (c1803), Nancy Jenkins (c1800/10) and Thomas Jenkins (c1786). There were a few others who had an apparent son that age, but they were already identified.
For the 1840 census, William Jenkins would have been about 16 years old, so ought to be enumerated in the 15-19 age group (born ca 1820/25). Strangely, only one Jenkins household had an apparent son that age, and that one is already identified as someone else.
William Jenkins married Jane --- before ca 1847 in Onslow Co, NC. I didn't find a marriage record for them, and so far, I have no clues as to her maiden name.
The family was listed in Stump Sound District in Onslow County, NC on the 1850 census.

On 3 May 1853 Bazel R. King deeded something to William Jenkins. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 108)
On 20 Nov 1855 Jackson Jenkins deeded something to William Jenkins. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 414)
On 25 Aug 1857 Nehemiah Taylor deeded something to William Jenkins. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 28 page 143)
William Jenkins died ca 1859, for that is the date on his Loose Estate File at the North Carolina Archives. I did not look at this record, so I don't know what is in it, but it could contain valuable genealogical information about his family.
On 12 Jan 1860 Elijah Beasley deeded something to Jane Jenkins. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 29 page 13)
In 1860 widow Jane was still in Stump Sound District as before.

I did not find Jane nor any of her children on the 1870 or 1880 census.
William and Jane (---) Jenkins had at least 3 children per the 1850 through 1860 census. I don't have much additional data on them so far. See the Register Report below for what little data I have on them.
