I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to William Jenkins, but I'm sure he is somehow closely related to my ancestor Osborne Jenkins (c1803).
William Jenkins was born ca 1732 or before, based on his first public record dated 1753 and assuming he was at least 21 then. On 27 Nov 1753 he was a witness to a deed. The 1800 census record for William Jenkins shows him aged 45 and up, or born before 1755.
William Jenkins was presumably born in Onslow Precinct, North Carolina, though it should be noted that Onslow was not formed until 1734. Prior to that it was still part of New Hanover Precinct. ("Precincts" became "Counties" in 1739). New Hanover was formed in 1729 from Craven Precinct, so his "technical" place of birth depends on his actual birth date, though it seems likely he was born in what is now Onslow County, NC.
I don't know who William's parents were, but he is a proven brother of George Jenkins (c1734) and they were often witnesses to each others deeds and such. I would also guess that William was closely related to Thomas Jenkins (c1715) and Lewis Jenkins Sr (c1710). I doubt he is Thomas' son, because Thomas named all his children in a 1745 record. Lewis Jenkins certainly could be William's father, but he was not named in Lewis's Will.
On 27 Nov 1753, William Jenkins and Henry Rodes witnessed a deed from Charles Cox to Horotia Woodhouse. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book D page 16, from Records of Onslow County, North Carolina, Vol I by Zae Harget Gwynn, and all subsequent deeds cited on this page are from this book or Vol II).
On 25 Oct 1754 a muster list was taken of Militia members in John Starkey's company commanded by Captain Thomas Hicks. William Jenkins was listed as was George Jenkins, Lewis Jenkins and Henry Jenkins.
On 24 Apr 1761, William Jenkins and Isaac James witnessed a deed from Jacob James to George Jenkins. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book F page 23).
Sometime in this general period (1760's), William Jenkins married Elizabeth "Betty" Henderson. Her maiden is proven by her father's Will (see below). They may have married back in the 1750's, but I just don't know exactly when they married, but it was before 1770. She was a daughter of James Henderson.
On 9 Aug 1766 George Jenkins deeded 100 acres to William Jenkins. James Henderson and Henry Rhodes were witnesses. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book H page 31).
William Jenkins was listed on a 1769 Tax list for Onslow County.
On 20 Oct 1770, James Henderson made his Will in Onslow County and named his "daughter Betty Jenkins" and son-in-law William Jenkins. (Onslow Co, NC Will Book 2 page 59).

On 14 Aug 1784 William Jenkins sold 50 acres to Solomon Rhodes, Planter. The land was on Troublesome Run adjoining the land "where William Jenkins now lives". Witnesses by William Loyd and Thomas Beesley. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book N page 7).
On 14 Nov, and 19 Nov 1784, William Jenkins and John Fisher witnessed two deeds from William Wheeler to Robert Hicks. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book N page 42 and 48).
On 12 Feb 1785, William Jenkins and George Shepherd witnessed a deed from James Gray and Jonathan Murray, Executors of Jonathan Jenkins (1741), deceased, to Arthur Averitt. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book P page 18).

On 9 Jan 1798 William Jenkins, his wife Elizabeth Jenkins, and their daughter Obedience Jenkins, sold 80 acres to Reddick Caps on Mill Run. Witnesses were James Foy, Nathaniel Pettit. Although I didn't find the record, it would seem that all three of them sold this land because William and Elizabeth had previously sold it (or gave it) to Obedience, but reserved their right to live on it or enjoy it until their deaths, so all three had to sign. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book V page 3).
On 5 May 1798 two deeds were recorded, seemingly for the same piece of land. The first was from William and Elizabeth Jenins to "daughter Obedience Jenkins", land on Mill Run and Lewis Creek formerly belonging to "his brother George Jenkins". Witnesses were John Bond and Joseph Mashborne. The other deed on the same date was from Obedience to her parents William and Elizabeth. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book R page 59 and 60).
In 1799 (no exact date), William Jenkins and Joshua James, trustees for Sarah James, "agree to abide by division of property of George Jenkins, father of Hester Jenkins and gave her the negro willed to her". Witnesses were James Foy Sr and George Shepard. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book U page 71).
William Jenkins was listed on the 1800 census in Onslow County.

William Jenkins died by 1805 for that is the date on his Estate File. He did not make a Will. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - William Jenkins - 1805, North Carolina Archives)
On 14 Oct 1805, Thomas Capps, Joseph Mashborne and Lewis Sparkman made an Administration bond for Thomas Capps to be Administrator of William Jenkins's estate. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - William Jenkins - 1805, North Carolina Archives)
On 14 Nov 1805, an Inventory of William's estate was made and an estate sale was held. Among the purchasers was "Elizabeth Jenkins", who must have been his widow. (Onslow Co, NC Loose Estates - William Jenkins - 1805, North Carolina Archives)
William Jenkins and wife Elizabeth Henderson had two proven children, and probably had many others. The 1786, 1790 and 1800 census seem to show a few more.
Unknown Son (1765/86). William Jenkins had an apparent son this age. He was home with him for the 1786 census (aged "under 21", born ca 1765/86). He did not appear to be with William by 1790, so possibly married or dead by then.
I have no clue who this might have been.

This may be the same person as son Benjamin listed below.
Obedience Jenkins was born 18 Mar 1772 per the Henry Rhodes Family Bible, which listed her as "Bendance Jenkins, daughter of William & Baty Jenkins".
Obedience seems to be home with her parents for the 1786 and 1790 census (no ages given for females on either record).
Obedience was mentioned in three deeds involving her parents in 1798 (see her parents section above).
On 15 Apr 1800, Thomas Capps obtained a marriage bond to marry Obedience Jenkins.
I have not attempted to trace Thomas and Obedience other than in the census records.
They were on the 1800 census just a few houses from her parents.

I didn't find them in 1810.
Charity Jenkins was born 21 Sep 17-- per the Henry Rhodes Family Bible, which listed her as "Charity Jenkins, daughter of William & Baty Jenkins". The year of her birth was cut off or marred somehow. She may be the same daughter William had born ca 1784/90 who was with him in 1790 (no ages) and 1800 (age 10-25, born ca 1784/90).
I don't know who she married.
Benjamin Jenkins may or may not be a son of William Jenkins. I have only found one record for Benjamin, and was where he and William Jenkins witnessed a deed in 1794. This association is what makes me think he was William's son.
I have very little additional data on Benjamin Jenkins. He was probably born ca 1767 or before based on him witnessing a deed in 1788, and assuming he had to be at least 21 then. William did have two apparent sons born ca 1765/86, and Benjamin would fit in that group very easily.
Benjamin was apparently with his father for the 1786 state census (aged "under 21", born ca 1765/86).
On 18 Oct 1788, Benjamin Jenkins and Jonathan Bryant witnessed a deed from Moses Fox to John Lee. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book P page 50).
On 23 May 1789, Benjamin Jenkins and Nathan Bryan witnessed a deed from George Brinson Sr to George Brinson Jr. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book P page 47).
I did not find Benjamin on the 1790 census, nor did his father William have any apparent sons at home that year.
On 15 Apr 1794, Benjamin Jenkins and William Jenkins witnessed a deed from Daniel Shepart to Mourning Brinson, widow of George Brinson. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book S page 43).
The 1800 census entry for William Jenkins showed no apparent sons, and Benjamin was not listed as head of household that year, so he may have died or been living with someone else, or moved away from Onslow County.
I have no additional data on him.
