I (Marty Grant) don't know how I'm related to Benjamin W. Jenkins, but I'm sure he is somehow related to my ancestor Osborne Jenkins (c1803).
Benjamin W. Jenkins was born ca 1818/19 (per 1850 census) or ca 1819/20 per the 1860 census, though I believe the 1860 census is more accurate. He was presumably born in Onslow County, in the area that later became Stump Sound Township. I don't know what his middle initial of "W" stands for.
I do not know who Benjamin's parents are, but there are several suspects as the census analysis below will show.
Benjamin would have been about 1 year old or less for the 1820 census, so if born yet, he should be enumerated in the "under 10" age group (born ca 1810/20). James Jenkins (c1780) had two sons that age (but both are identified already); Thomas Jenkins (c1786) had 2 apparent sons that age.
In 1830, Benjamin would have been about 11 years old so should be enumerated in the 10-14 age group (born ca 1815/20), or it is possible he would be in the 5-9 age group (born ca 1820/25), depending on his actual birth date. James Jenkins (c1780) had two sons 10-14, but they are already identified; Lear Jenkins (1770/80) had an apparent son age 5-9; Benjamin Jenkins (1798) had two apparent sons 5-9; Osborne Jenkins (c1803) had an apparent son 5-9, but his heirs were named in estate records, and Benjamin was not one of them; Nancy Jenkins (1800/10) had an apparent son 5-9. Thomas Jenkins (c1786) had an apparent sons 5-9.
Benjamin was listed as head of household on the 1840 census. I don't think he was married yet, but he had two women with him, one older, perhaps his mother, the other younger, which is possibly a younger sister, or a very young wife.
1840 census analysis (based on available evidence): (Explanation of this census)

On 1 Nov 1841 Benjamin Jinkins obtained a marriage bond in Onslow County to marry Nancy Wilkins. Nancy was born ca 1817/18 presumably in Onslow County. I don't know who her parents were.
The family was listed in Wolf Pit District in Onslow County, NC on the 1850 census. They were not near any other Jenkins this census, but by 1860 they were in Stump Sound with the rest of the Jenkins.

On 16 May 1853 John C. Williams deeded something to Benjamin Jenkins. I don't know which Benjamin was being referred to as three of them were of age in 1853. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 120)
On 20 Dec 1855 Elijah Canady deeded something to Benjamin Jenkins Jr. I don't have the details of this deed yet. I'm not sure if this deed pertains to this Benjamin or to the other one: Benjamin Jenkins (1828). Benjamin Jenkins (c1798) would certainly be the "Sr", but either of these two could be "Jr". (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 27 page 431)
On 3 Apr 1857 Dugal McMillian deeded something to Benjamin W. Jenkins. I don't have the details of this deed yet. (Onslow Co, NC Deed Book 28 page 73)
Benjamin and family were listed on the 1860 census in Stump Sound next door to widow Jane Jenkins, widow of William Jenkins (c1824) and near most of the other Jenkins.

They were still in Stump Sound for the 1880 census, but for some reason, Benjamin and Nancy were not in the same household, though only 2 houses apart.

I have no data on them after this.
Benjamin and Nancy only had one son (John) per the 1850 through 1880 census records. If they had any other children, they probably were born and died between census years.
