Welcome to my Blackman genealogy pages. I am interested in the Blackman surname in Marion Co., SC and that general area.

Blackman and Blackmon are variations of the same name.

Neither Blackman nor Blackmon made the Top 1000 most common surname lists in the US for 2000 or 2010.

My most recent Blackman ancestor is my maternal 4 times great grandmother Lucinda Blackman (c1794-1860s). She married Alexander Lane (c1790-1858) ca 1812 in Marion Dist., SC. Her parents are not identified.

There were several Blackman families in the region old enough to be have been her parents, but I’ve yet to find any solid evidence as to which one might be hers. Additionally, we’ve yet to find any evidence that she was a Blackman at all. W. W. Sellers said in his book that he thought she was a Blackman, but he wasn’t certain. That is the only evidence we have ever found.
