Welcome to my Lewis genealogy pages. I am interested in the Lewis surname in south eastern North Carolina, primarily Robeson Co., NC, and north eastern South Carolina, primarily Horry and Marion Counties.

Lewis was the 26^th most common surname in the United States in 2000. By 2010 it had dropped to 29^th.

My most recent Lewis ancestor was my 5 times great grandmother Elizabeth Lewis (1755/65-c1810s) who married James Floyd before ca 1784. She was probably born in Robeson Co., NC but lived her married life in Horry Co., SC. Her father is supposedly:

Jacob Lewis, of whom I currently have no information other than his name.

Despite knowing of this branch of my family for several years now, I have only barely begun to research them.

Note that I have another Lewis line in Virginia, who I would assume are not related to this Lewis line.
